I hope you are all ready for the little ghosts and goblins coming to your door tomorrow. On that note I have something BATTY to share with you today. I made these cards last year but brought them into the store to sell again this year and sold the last of them today so now they are only a memory....unless I make more next year that is.

Silver glittered Angel....and a blog mention for me

 

Good morning all.....keeping on the Angel theme, here is another angel card that I made last year. I love small, simple, uncluttered designs as you can tell by this card but I have a co-worker who likes things big so I make special cards for her....I just can bring my self to making them unless asked. Funny huh!!

 

 

And speaking of friends....I have a on-line quilling 'friend' who has a blog called LIN HANDMADE GREETING CARDS and she was having problems with her creative mojo so I told her what I do and she mentioned me in her blog post. You can check it here.Thanks for the mention Lin.

Angels...Blue and Green

Good morning peeps.....I am knee deep in making the nativities that are flying out my etsy door so not much new to share with you but here are a couple of Angels I made a few years back (you also may have seen them in my etsy store).

 

 

I still love these cute little angels so you might see them in a new card for this year....if I ever get the time. Over the next few post I will share some of my past quilled Christmas cards until I have new goodies to share.

Happy Birthday....Dad

Last week was my dad's 70th Birthday so of course I had to make him a memory card. I have been making them for my immediate family for many years now so I can't stop the tradition. Sometimes the hardest part is picking out the picture but cards for guys are a little more of a challenge as well because I like to use ribbon a lot and bows just don't cut in on cards for men.

Sooo....it was a great opportunity for me to pull out the Washi Tape my brother brought back for me on his recent trip to Japan. Remember this post? I struggled a bit on where to put it...as a border, on the picture itself, one strip, two strips. But I decided just a small strip to anchor the buttons and words was all that was needed. Of course I edited the picture with photo shop to add some fun details...and if you haven't noticed yet I love the colour green...specifically apple green and any shades of it.

Memory Card....for Sandie

Hello everyone
This memory card is for my good friend from work...Sandie. A few months ago she was pre-cutting strips of wraphia for a project at work and I thought the pieces looked like hair so I told her to put them on her head and then I stuck a pompom on the top. I just happened to have my camera at work that day {lucky for me but not so much for Sandie} and I think she KNEW what was going to happen with that picture. How could I not with such an awesome picture to work with....I just added a few swirls and a crown of course {after all it was her 65th} and we had a queen for a day. We made her wear a sash and an actual crown at work on her birthday and she was a good sport about the whole thing.

Memory Card....for Shirley

Good morning everyone
I have been MIA lately because I am working on some custom Nativity Scenes as well as designing a line of  quilling pieces for someone who designs and makes scrapbooks by hand. I will share more info and pictures of these projects when I am finished but for now I have some memory cards to show you.

I have made cards for 3 special people who have celebrated milestone birthdays.The first one is for my "Aunt" Shirley who turned 60. She celebrated her birthday with a very colourful luau and everyone had a blast. Shirley is the youngest looking 60 I have ever seen and I hope to look {and act} so young when I celebrate mine. Thanks for the great party Shirl.

Pumpkin...quilled with recycled paper

Hello everyone...thanks for dropping by my blog again. As promised...here is the pumpkin I quilled with recycled paper. I think of the three, this one is my favourite. I also added a bit of copper glitter as an accent.

I don't have anything else in the works using the recycled paper but it is something I will definitely use again in the future. I might even try a Nativity when things die down a bit or even for next year.

Fringed flower with recycled paper

Hello everyone
here is the second item I made using recycled paper.....fringed flowers. For the center of the flower I used orange for a fall look but the recycled paper goes with any colour.

Quilling with recycle paper - tutorial

Hello everyone
I have always like the look of using old printed material (books, magazines, newspapers) in craft projects but don't use them often enough so after reading a post on the blog Simple Rhyme I was inspired to try it again. In the post,which you can read here, Asma talks about cutting your own quilling paper. We are spoiled in North America to be able to walk into our local craft stores and purchase what we need but a lot of quillers from around the world don't have the same luxury. Sooooo I thought I would try cutting my own strips and, at the same time, use recycle material.

• I started out by finding a book with nice white pages....I didn't want one that was faded and brittle
• next I tore some pages out of the book trying to keep as close to the spine as I could so none was wasted. 
• then I trimmed around the edge of the pages to get rid of the margins
• lastly cut the paper into strips.

 The first batch I cut (and shown in the picture above) were for fringing so they were about 1/2" wide. I also cut strips 1/8" wide for quilling. I made a pumpkin, fringed flower and a daisy like flower.

Here is the quilled flower but check back again and I will show the fringed flower and the pumpkin in posts to come.

Tissue Pumpkins

As promised...here are some more pictures of my fall mantle and the tissue paper pumpkins. The instructions are posted on The Essential Packaging Store Blog and you can get them here.

They are so much fun to make and are an excellent and inexpensive way to decorate for Fall.  The smaller versions make a fantastic table favour when filled with a few tasty treats. The instructions call for green florist tape and I only had white so I used my washi tape....
