A present....for me (Thanks Lin)

Hello everyone....I am not going to sign off for 2010 just yet (had you fooled didn't I). There is one last post I would like to share with you for this year which is a wonderful package that I received from Lin at Lin Handmade Greeting Cards. Lin was the winner of my blog candy giveaway which you can read about here and here so she sent me a nice gift in return....a wonderful Christmas card for me with a very sincere note inside and a Valentine's card for me to either give away or keep. I am definitely going to keep it.

...and take a look at Lin's printing. She has the most exquisite printing I have seen...I would love to print like this. (Lin...your own printing would look great on your cards)

It's great to see other quillers work in person and especially Lin's. I have always loved the look of her hand-cut (by shredder I think) paper which adds a nice detail to the edge. And her coils are super sturdy....I did not expect that from hand-cut paper. I've taken a lot of pictures so I can show you all of the details in Lin's cards and also because I wanted to test out the settings on my new camera too.

I love both cards Lin.....thanks so much and I hope you have a wonderful 2011

Quilled Christmas Tree (Inspiration)

Hello everyone....thanks for stopping by today.

I have a question for my quilling followers....where do you get your inspiration for quilling designs?

I get a lot of  inspiration from other quillers which is what I love about our community. Most of us are not afraid to share our designs probably because it is really hard to duplicate a quilling piece exactly even if you have made it yourself. And that is the beauty of quilling...just like flowers and snowflakes....no two are alike. I also get inspiration from books and kits but also from my travels in every day life.

A few weeks ago I was waiting in-line at Starbucks...for my grande, extra hot, non fat chai tea latte (because I don't drink coffee)...and saw an image on their sign of a Christmas tree made from 3 graduated circles which is on the bottom left hand corner of the image below. Of course I thought.....I could quill that.

So here it is

Next time I think I would have the stem of the tree attached to the circles....
Have a great day

11 Nativities Ready to go......

Good morning dear readers
you may have been wondering what I have been up to lately....not many posts and not much new to share. Well I recently had 3 days off work and decided that I was going to focus on one thing....Nativities. So I thought why not take pictures of what 11 Nativities look like lined up on my dining room table....and here they are.

I also finished 5 sets of animals.....{1 sheep and 1 donkey for each set, for now I have given up on the camel but there is always next year} and hope to have them on my etsy site tomorrow.
A good day to all....

"Have yourself a merry little Christmas"

Good morning everyone
do you ever struggle with what words to put on your cards? I certainly do...you can only come up with so many witty sayings. So..... one thing I like to fall back on is using sayings or verses from songs or even the title works too...(like for this Christmas tree card). You can get oodles of sayings out of one song.

...which makes me think I should do a series of cards using the verses of an entire song and add quilling to match the verse. Hmmmmmm might just have to try it out.....NEXT YEAR though as I am still knee deep in quilling nativities.

Thanks for stopping by my blog....it is really appreciated.

Silver glittered Angel....and a blog mention for me

Good morning all.....keeping on the Angel theme, here is another angel card that I made last year. I love small, simple, uncluttered designs as you can tell by this card but I have a co-worker who likes things big so I make special cards for her....I just can bring my self to making them unless asked. Funny huh!!

And speaking of friends....I have a on-line quilling 'friend' who has a blog called LIN HANDMADE GREETING CARDS and she was having problems with her creative mojo so I told her what I do and she mentioned me in her blog post. You can check it here. Thanks for the mention Lin.

Enjoy your day and remember to do something creative.
