~ quilled mustache father's day card

~ good morning
the carnival theme has been really popular lately with invitations and themed parties
and I received an invite recently that was the inspiration for this card

{I had this idea swirling around in my head but put it to paper when I got the invite}

mix up your fonts {some caps, some lower case}
add a quilled mustache
{and for my quilling readers, you know there is nothing easier to quill}

and you have a carnival themed father's day card

I have another one to share next time so be sure to check back

~ DAD you're the best - quilled tie

 ~ hello

after nearly forgetting mother's day
I wasn't going to let the same thing happen for father's day

so here is my rendition of an argyle sweater and dress shirt with a quilled tie
  I went through a couple of prototypes but the process was quite simple in the end

  • I took a white card base and glued argyle type paper on the front of it
{I printed my sentiment on the argyle paper before gluing}
  • ran a score line down the middle of the glued card front
  • cut approximately 1.5 " (3.8 cm) down the score line from the top
  • folded the two cut edges down to form the collar
  • added a quilled tie and some buttons

~ enjoy your day

Father's Day gone Digital

Happy Father's Day everyone
I've enjoyed playing around with photoshop essentials lately so thought I would put a twist on the father's day cards this year and make them all digital elements. No buttons, ribbon, card stock or glue used for these cards. They were a real a hit and I haven't seen the dads laugh this hard in a long time....just take a look and you will know why.

my nephew gave this card to my brother

I made this one for Marie to give to her dad
(sure she was thrilled to be included)
last but not least, me on the left) with my sister and my dad
(the boys we are referring to are our brothers)
Have a great day

DAD you're the best

Hello readers
Here is the card I made using the paper I designed in photo shop. I think it turned out ok. Sometimes when you make a card it is quick, easy and painless....and sometimes not. This card was the sometimes not. It seemed to take forever with so many cutting elements, quilling and designing the paper....but I am happy with how it turned out.

Now I am working on making thank you cards in photo shop....check back again to see them.

It's your day

Good morning everyone
....why does it seem that penguins and ducks are good for guy cards. I guess it helps that they are wearing ties and hats.  Here is the funny penguin guy again from Memory Box...he is quick and easy to colour and fun to use.

Paper Piecing Tutorial

Good Morning
for today's masculine card from 2007 we are back to Stamping Bella and this cool dude is called beerafella. If you take a close look at his shirt and shorts you'll notice a pattern on them. The technique I used here is called paper piecing and is super simple to do.

He is a quick tutorial for how I made this card....
  1. I stamped beerafella on to 3.5" x 2.25" white card stock
  2. then stamped him on to a blue & red patterned paper
  3. then cut out the shirt on the blue paper and the shorts on the red paper
  4. and coloured in the belt on the shorts with a black felt
  5. then designed card front
  6. and attached the white card stock with first stamped image to it
  7. and coloured in desired areas on the white card stock with twinkling h2o's
  8. then attached the shirt and shorts with dimensional tape to pop it off the page
  9. and viola....
...and with the leftover pieces on the patterned paper you can make another card but with a red top and blue shorts.

    Have a great day

    BoJangles

    Hello bloggers

    I made this card using a stamp from one of my favourite but sometimes hard to find stamp company....Rosie's Roadshow. They are just from Bellevue Washington but not a lot of stores in Vancouver carry them....at least in my area. Their stamps are A-DORABLE! I am drawn to stamps that tell a story and Rosie's Roadshow stamps do just that. I love adding to collections that make you pull out those older stamps to ink them up again. I usually use my computer for the phrases and sentiments on my cards but Rosie's Roadshow has some really good phrase stamps. I can't say enough about them....

     And if you have been following my blog you may have noticed I like to take my pictures around my house...on my mantle, nest them in some flowers or...in this case....sit them in the wreath I have on the door. The wreath is kinda dull and boring but did the trick.

    how {are} YOU doin!

    Here is a card I made in 2007...I love those penguins from Memory Box.

    I didn't notice until I had finished printing that I made a mistake in the phrase I used....It should have just been {how you doin} ...oh well, you will see it used correctly on a card in a few days.

    Happy Victoria Day....

    For me, generic cards for guys are a challenge. I do fine when I am making memory cards for the guys in my family but when I am making cards to sell I have to consciously make some for guys.....not sure why but it just is. I did better last year but wasn't blogging then so I am showing them now.This is a fun, fresh looking card.It's not quite beach time yet but itsa comin.There is not a lot going on with this card but (as you have heard before) I think simple is better.

    Tune in tomorrow for some more guy cards

    King of the Grill

    Hello everyone
    I made this card for father's day last year but will be selling it at The Essential Packaging Store again this year so I thought I would post it. On this card I used grillafella from Stamping Bella...I love the Stamping Bella stamps and have A LOT of them to say the least.

    As a lead up to Father's Day I am going to share some of the the masculine cards that I have made in the last few years so check back again.
