~ happy birthday jesse

I have another memory card for you
today is my nephew's 20th birthday

and since he is such a funny guy
I thought I would make his picture look
a little........different

 I made his head {and the cat's head} a little bigger
then added a sentiment right onto the picture

and I always like to add a little birdie somewhere on the card
this card has both a digital and quilled bird

I wasn't there when he opened it but
I know he would have gotten a kick out of it
happy birthday Jess

Happy Birthday....Nic

Hello there....23 years ago yesterday my FAVOURITE niece was born {I can say that because she is my only niece}and here is her card. The top picture is of her at about 3 or 4, holding two huge frogs and the bottom picture she is holding 3 kittens. Nic has always been a big lover of animals hence the title Miss Dolittle (as in the movie Dr. Dolittle for those of you who aren't familiar with it).She is also a huge Elephant lover so when I saw this paper I just had to buy it. Her dream is to one-day go to Africa and I hope to be there right beside her.

 Cheers

Snow day

Good morning everyone
I thought I would show you what we woke up to here today. Vancouver mostly gets rain but some days we are lucky enough {I think so anyway} to get a dump of snow. Today I don't mind it because I am off work and get to stay home to make cards and quill. I might not be so happy if I had to work...though it is raining now and the BIG MELT is on. I had to grab my camera and take some pictures before it is all yucky slush.

Also on a side note....THEY say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so check out this post here on Elizabeth's blog {Twirled Peace}to see a version of my Nativity. I hadn't known Elizabeth had made one but stumbled across it when Elizabeth added my nativity to her favourites on Etsy. I then noticed she had a blog and checked it out {I am always looking for new quilling blogs}.

I have a sketch very similar to the Nativity Elizabeth made to use as a tree ornament {with out the add-ons}so it was interesting to see how Elizabeth had done it. And, as Elizabeth says in her post....I also prefer the 'off' white which is the paper I use in mine.

edited to add: I meant to say as well that this is what I find great about the quilling community....that we share ideas and inspire each-other to continue with the craft that we love. It is always nice when you are given credit too as Elizabeth did.

I finally have a card to share for my next post so be sure to check back again.

Have a great day

A present....for me (Thanks Lin)

Hello everyone....I am not going to sign off for 2010 just yet (had you fooled didn't I). There is one last post I would like to share with you for this year which is a wonderful package that I received from Lin at Lin Handmade Greeting Cards. Lin was the winner of my blog candy giveaway which you can read about here and here so she sent me a nice gift in return....a wonderful Christmas card for me with a very sincere note inside and a Valentine's card for me to either give away or keep. I am definitely going to keep it.

...and take a look at Lin's printing. She has the most exquisite printing I have seen...I would love to print like this. (Lin...your own printing would look great on your cards)

It's great to see other quillers work in person and especially Lin's. I have always loved the look of her hand-cut (by shredder I think) paper which adds a nice detail to the edge. And her coils are super sturdy....I did not expect that from hand-cut paper. I've taken a lot of pictures so I can show you all of the details in Lin's cards and also because I wanted to test out the settings on my new camera too.

I love both cards Lin.....thanks so much and I hope you have a wonderful 2011

Happy New Year...

Wishing you the best of the New Year
and to a happy and healthy 2011

Sheep for my Peeps

Hello everyone
Now that Christmas is over and all of the gifts are opened I can share with you the little goodies I gave to my wonderful co-workers.  Each one received a sheep in a clear box tied with a brown ribbon as well as a little box of home-made almond roca. I managed (as usual) to snap a few pictures before I brought them into work on our last day before the Christmas break {I am lucky enough to work at a store that closes down between Christmas and New Years which I am really, really grateful for}. I also came home with a bag full of goodies from them {wish I had taken a picture before I dug in.....oh well, maybe next year}.

This is the package finished and I love how they turned out.

Now it is time for me to start working on some new cards and quilling so if I am MIA you will know what I am up to....but not before I make one more nativity with animals. I got one last order the day before Christmas and the wonderful customer is in no rush...as she says you have a year until I need it.
