storage always seems to be a topic of discussion with crafters
but even more so with quillers
those long strip of paper are not the easiest to store
especially if you want them at the ready
I like to see them all at once and hate getting them out of the package
I like to see them all at once and hate getting them out of the package
so this is what I came up with many years ago and it still seems to work for me
a bulletin board
straight pins
and voila
what is nice about this method is after a few weeks the strips straighten,
the board is right behind my desk so it is easy to get at
the board is right behind my desk so it is easy to get at
and it is wonderful eye candy
and if you are wondering what the paper is behind the strips...
it is from my very first quilling kit with instructions of quilled shapes
I just move aside the strips to see it

how do you store your quilling paper?

I should have also told you that I only hang 1/2 the strip on my bulletin board and the other half stay in the original bag and then are stored in a box (pictured below). That way I know what the colours are and when I go away I just grab the box with my tools and take it all with me. I also hang some of the bags on my wall if I use them a lot. This is just for my 1/8" strips....the wider ones are store in a separate box.
It's also make beautiful decoration! I store my quill paper strips in a clear plastic draws and in the same plastic packaging. It's work out fine for me. Love your idea of storage.
ReplyDeleteA very good idea!. I cut my own strips and there not as long, so I keep them in large zip lock bags and put them in a plastic bin.
ReplyDeleteI saw something very similar to this on another blog a month or so ago. I took a piece of cardboard and attached hooks to it and hang the papers on the hooks. The cardboard hangs from the side of a table I have in my craft room
ReplyDeleteooh, and bonus, they look so pretty all hanging their- like your own personal rainbow :)
ReplyDeleteI have also seen this sort of paper strips storage before and I wish I could be that organized with my papers. I take them with me when I go to crafty days at the locally owned scrapbook store so I keep them in a plastic organizer which is a couple inches longer than the packages; I also keep the papers in their plastic packages. I was wondering, do you keep the names of the papers somewhere near in case you need to know the colors?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for storage. I just keep mine in a box near my desk. Your way is much more appealing.

ReplyDeleteI'll add a picture of it to this post.

ReplyDeleteCheryl, I live in India and want to get myself some nice quilling paper, but there isin't much variety here. Could you suggest some place from where I could get variety at a reasonal price, as I would also have to pay shipping?
I'd really appreciate any guidance. MY mail id - prishth@gmail.com

Hello Cheryl! I keep my quilling strips in Pringles boxes, based on the width of the strips.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilling!:D
